The Centre for Applied English Studies (CAES) at the University of Hong Kong is delighted to invite you to participate in our international conference, Faces of English: Theory, Practice and Pedagogy, which will be held from 11-13 June 2015.
The conference highlights the rich diversity of approaches to understanding English and the range of contexts in which it is taught, studied and used across the globe. It aims to bring together academics, researchers, practitioners and research students to share their research and practical ideas on the analysis, description and teaching of English.
Five distinguished scholars in the field of English language education and applied linguistics have confirmed as keynote speakers:
· Professor Rod Ellis (The University of Auckland);
· Professor Bonny Norton (University of British Columbia);
· Professor David Nunan (The University of Hong Kong);
· Professor Wen Qiufang (Beijing Foreign Studies University); and
· Professor Ken Hyland (The University of Hong Kong)
Hong Kong is the ideal location for a conference that celebrates cultural, social and linguistic diversity. It is a city with a rich cultural heritage, stunning natural scenery and a buzzing street and night life and we hope you will be able to enjoy as much of it as you can while you are here. Along with the profusion of talks and presentations we have organized a number of social activities and cultural events where you can enjoy the many ‘faces’ of Hong Kong.
We are now inviting proposals on a range of topics that relate to the conference theme. Presentation types include: paper, workshop, colloquium, demonstration session and poster display.
